These affordable rubber soled slip-ons continue to be the chosen footwear of India's masses. Simple and practical, "Hawaii Chappal" may be a statement on life here.

I have never ever heard them called "fIip flops"here.

DefIintely the best choice for monsoon rains and scorching heat.

Kantha embroidery is a traditional skill of craftswomen from West Bengal. Look closely at the tiny running stitches that form beautiful patterns that often include nature, religion or simply daily routine. The intricacy will draw you in.

This craft developed out of necessity. Used sarees were layered together and the kantha stitching was used to "sew in durability" to make small baby quilts or throws to keep warm.

Everything happens out on the street here.
